Description by the artist
The earrings Trinacria sapurita (Sicilian for Flavorful Trinacria) are inspired by the baroque style, which here in Sicily, especially in the east, is certainly the most imaginative and intricate in the world. 925/000 silver bleached. Pendants: Mediterranean red coral, first choice, not registered in the CITES lists. Cultured river pearls, on request other stones (peridot, faceted emeralds, natural faceted rubies, lapis lazuli, aulite, turquoise). The price may vary depending on the type of stone you choose. My jewels are handmade and speak of land and roots, of sky and sea. They narrate my Sicily, its colors, its history, its strong contradictions. I was inspired by the prickly pear and its plots that bind us, harness us and that, magically, make us freer to dream. Handmade with imperfections and irregularities, which is unique.

The artwork in the Sicilian culture
The prickly pears (which inspired Roberto) are one of the great symbols of Sicily. They grow everywhere: on the sides of cliffs, in gardens, on the roofs of abandoned houses, on the sides of roads … Its fruit (ripe by the end of August) is delicious and much loved by Sicilians who also make rosoli and mostarda, a sweet typically prepared in jars, with the addition of carnations, cinnamon and almonds. Gelo is also very appreciated, a sort of gelatinous cream. Prickly pears were imported by Arabs during their domination (IX-XI century).
The Trinacria is the symbol of Sicily. It is a Gorgon (mythological monster that petrified with a gaze whoever observed it) with three legs and typically, here in Sicily, spigacrinita, or with ears of corn instead of hair. The island, in fact, was one of the granaries of ancient Rome (which conquered Sicily in the third century BC). The three legs of the Trinacria also recalls the shape of Sicily, triangular.
