Description by the artist

In this work of mine, Sicily is seen as a Moor’s Head with a draped blue turban, with a knot on her forehead where above, in plain view, are typical Sicilian fruits, oranges, lemons, grapes and leaves. The gaze is unwavering, indicating an attentive woman observing life’s changes. Around the canvas, like a frame, is all the decoration typical of Sicilian carts. The colors are bright and the whole image is immersed in this white background like the particular light of this wonderful land.
