Filicudi

Description by the artist
Watercolor dedicated to the Sicilian sea and to the beauty of the Aeolian houses. In particular, a terrace overlooking the sea in Filicudi, where the candid white of the architecture with its soft, rounded lines embrace you, welcoming you in the shade of a cool terrace on the sea and the Sicilian coast stretches out on the horizon. The watercolor technique allows you to capture reality in a fresh and extemporaneous way and is part of the story of a special trip to my Sicily through images in an illustrated narrative path that starts from the direct relationship of the places visited.

The artwork in the Sicilian culture
The archipelago of the Aeolian Islands, is located in the northern part of Sicily and is composed of 7 beautiful islands (Vulcano, Lipari, Salina, Alicudi, Filicudi, Panarea and Stromboli) and a large rock: Basiluzzo. It is a concentration of history, worldliness, beautiful beaches, splendid sea, active volcanoes (Stromboli and Vulcano), renowned food products. This work of art is full of typical elements of the Aeolian Islands: the prickly pears, the sea, Stromboli smoking, palm trees, a beautiful blackberry and, above all, the unmistakable Aeolian houses: white, cubic, and with the famous terraces (bagghiu) delimited by columns (puleri).
