The artwork in the Sicilian culture
By the Governance of Sicilian Artisan Foundation
Catania is the Sicilian city where the volcano Etna is located. It is a city, therefore, designed by the black of the lava stone. It was founded by the Greeks in the 8th century BC. (Katane) and subsequently colonized in turn by the various peoples who have ruled in Sicily. In this work of art by Arabito you can see the ruins of the Roman Amphitheater (II A.D.), the black Colosseum, which are located in Piazza Stesicoro, along the baroque Via Etnea, the heart of the city two steps away from the fish market, this last one is a must for anyone coming to Sicily. The Roman Amphitheater was built in lava stone and bright red bricks and the chromatic effect had to be really fantastic.
