Ceramic lava stone
Maria Carmela Benfatto
"Art, for the artist, is a moment of reflection, through various materials, on the physical and immaterial reality of what attracts his attention. For users, art could also be defined as a way to enjoy reality filtered through the brain and thought of the artist whose works are being viewed"

Maria Carmela Benfatto ceramics the Etna lava stone. She creates ceramic objects and jewels with lava stone and corals from the Sicilian seas. The subjects she prefers are linked to Sicilian culture: Moor heads, prickly pears, island sun and sea. A particular predilection of her refers to the explosive lava flows of Etna, A MUNTAGNA, much loved by the local inhabitants.

“In my works I highlight my personal wonder in front of the explosive, sunny, luminous nature that characterizes the Sicilian land”
