Silk Batik
Carla Siracusano
"Art for me is all that is found in my hands and heart"

Carla Siracusano was born in Messina and at the age of 20 she moved to Milan where she attended a course in applied arts. Working along side professionals in the creation of fabrics, she is passionate about the Batik technique and the characteristic colors of silks. Since then Carla transforms stoles into precious silks, with unique designs and colors. She lies the silk on the loom, dips the brush in the hot wax to create the design and proceeds, in various step, in the drafting of the colors. The magic happened, the work comes to life.

“In the decorations I make on silk and in the colors I choose, I try to express the Sicilian nature, the warmth, the colors, the scents of my land, a mythicall and therefore I try to recover forgotten archetypes and presences. I love to define my thirst as “a small treasure chest of sensations”

The opinion of the Governance

Each creative has been included by the Governance after careful evaluation of the Sicilian spirit of his creations

“We all have a secret but if we choose what to wear we can’t  keep it hidden forever. Carla Siracusano’s clothes and fabric creations dress us with deep roots and warm, care free suns. They are colorful rooms, pillows of dreams, precious treasures and tales of grandmothers. Fairy eyes and cookie flours. Strong bricks of our house that is resistance and belonging”
